Croke Park switch-on

The historic switch-on of the floodlights at Croke Park prior to the Dublin-Tyrone match last weekend. Another historic occasion is in store this Sunday when the Irish rugby team take on France in the Six Nations at Croke Park. This is the first time that a "foreign" game has been played at the ground. Listening to RTE tonight there was great pride that the GAA had the vision to invest in such a tremendous stadium that is now one of the finest in the world. One contributor called the GAA "the most important organisation in Ireland over the last 150 years."
