Manchester Irish Festival

Manchester is once again gearing up for its great Irish festival in March. Below we've listed some of events of particular interest. We'll be adding more events but note that full day-by-day listings can be found at the Manchester Irish Festival website www.manchesteririshfestival.co.uk.

Young, Gifted & Green

The award winning ‘Young, Gifted & Green’
plus special guests bring their annual charity
concert to the Lowry on Saturday 8th March
as part of the launch weekend for this year's
Manchester Irish Festival.

The evening is to be hosted by Joe Casserly from Manchester’s award winning Irish Radio show ‘The Full Irish’ on ALL FM (96.9fm). Other special guests include Irish dancers from the Keegan Kennedy School of Irish Dancing and the award winning musicians Dezi Donnelly, Mike McGoldrick, Emma Sweeney, Mairead Hussey and Nicola Cahill.

All the proceeds from the evening will be donated to Francis House Children’s Hospice in Didsbury, Manchester. The evening of Irish entertainment which features the group’s tributes to Riverdance, Lord of the Dance and Celtic Tiger, is one of the opening events of this year’s Manchester Irish Festival.

The troupe was first formed in 1996 to help launch Manchester’s first Irish Festival. During the last thirteen years we have helped raise over £140, 000 for different charities. One of the troupe’s highlights was a sell out show at the Bridgewater Hall in 2001 which alone raised over £16,000 for Francis House Children’s Hospice.

Please note the show is now sold out.
