The Dulcet Tones of the Manc

A London-based survey suggests the Manchester accent is one of the least attractive in the country.

An organisation with the curious name 'the CoolBrands council' carried out the research which revealed the following order of preference amongst respondents:

1st The Queen's English - 20%
2nd The Scottish accent - 12%
3rd The Geordie accent - 9%
4th= Yorkshire- 7%
4th= Cockney - 7%
6th North of Ireland - 6%
7th Wales - 5%
8th= Scouse - 4%
8th= Mancunian - 4%
10th West Country - 3%
11th Brummie - 2%

It's amazing how false cosciousness created by the power of dominant groups in society can blind people to the obvious beauty of the dulcet tones of the Manc.
