Irish Traditional Music
Irish traditional band Dervish are touring in February 2008, coinciding with the release of their new album "Travelling Show".They're playing at Burnley Mechanics on Monday 4 February, Waterside Arts Centre, Sale on Friday 8 February, Southport Arts Centre on Saturday 9 February and Victoria Hall, Saltaire, Bradford on Sunday 10 February.
Eleanor McEvoy, Tim Edey, Brendan Power and Lucy Randall are performing at the Trades Club, Hebden Bridge on 2 February and also a small gig at M19, Stockport Rd, Levenshulme, Manchester on Thursday 7 February. There are only 70 tickets available for the M19 gig, available from the venue.
Eleanor achieved fame with her song "Only a Woman's Heart". Tim Edey is one of the scene's most exciting guitarists and has played with just about everyone, as well as being a top button accordionist. Brendan Power is one of the most innovative harmonica players around today and can play Irish trad as well as blues and jazz.
Folkport - Southport Arts Centre's Day of Folk takes place on Saturday 9 February and features Breabach, The Bothy Folk Club, Brass Monkey, Moishe's Bagel, Oysterband and Dervish.
Niamh Parsons and Graham Dunne play Burnley Mechanics on Thursday 17 April. Niamh is one of Ireland's leading traditional singers and she is accompanied by guitar virtuoso Graham.
Salsa Celtica play Burnley Mechanics on Monday 28 April. Combining celtic music and salsa rhythms, they put on a fantastic live show.
